ORTHOTICS

Orthotics are devices that may be applied to any part of the body to prevent or correct deformity, protect and immobilize structures, facilitate healing, and increase function. Foot orthotics are the most commonly prescribed type of orthotic. Assessment and prescription is completed by a Canadian Certified Pedorthist.

The primary functions of our hardworking feet are to provide support and locomotion. Our feet support our body's weight in an upright position. People often experience foot pain and discomfort, as well as decreased function for a number of reasons, including injuries, posture, anatomical structure and health conditions.

Foot dysfunction can impact on daily living, including work activities, personal care, leisure activities, and home management tasks. Custom-fabricated orthotics are devices worn within supportive footwear to treat and manage foot dysfunction and discomfort.

Foot orthotics are provided to manage pain, prevent deformity, decrease compensation, and promote normal biomechanical function and movement of the foot.

BRACING

BREG, Inc. is a pioneer of premium orthopedic, reconstructive and post-operative products. BREG has extensive product offerings, including custom functional and post-operative knee braces, a full range of off-the-shelf soft braces for the upper and lower extremities, as well as cold therapy devices.

Through extensive market research, we have found BREG products to be of very high quality, backed by exemplary customer support, warranty and service.

Kings has launched the following BREG products from our clinic facility:

  • custom functional knee brace for ACL/MCL injuries/instability
  • custom off-loading knee brace for pain and instability associated with osteoarthritis
  • neoprene/air mesh soft knee brace (off-the-shelf) for patellar instability
  • SlingShot2 (off-the-shelf) shoulder brace for post-operative management/joint instability

Many health benefit plans cover bracing products, however, coverage varies, so we are happy to assist clients in determining the details of their benefits coverage. Several plans also require a physician's prescription for coverage of bracing products.

We have two physiotherapists and two occupational therapists trained to assess, measure, fit and educate clients requiring bracing products. Contact us at Kings for more information!
